The Lynx compete in NCAA Division III in the Southern Athletic Association. Prior to joining the SAA, Rhodes was a founding member of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. The fall academic calendar has been revised to reduce the risks of mid-semester travel and maximize the likelihood that we can remain on campus for the fall semester. Classes for all students will begin August 26th and continue through the start of Thanksgiving break on Tuesday, November 24th. After Thanksgiving, the final few days of class and the final exam period will be conducted remotely.

Additionally, the Bonner Scholars Program offers scholarships to up to 15 students per class who have a strong commitment to change-based service. It is possible that conditions could change for the worse during the course of the semester. Should it be necessary to move again to remote learning, our faculty and staff will be prepared and ready to ensure that students are able to continue learning and accessing student support services. We have all learned a lot about how to do this effectively and with support for individual circumstances, and our goal would be to make this transition less traumatic and more predictable for all of us than was the case this past spring.

The course is a central facet of Rhodes' Foundations Curriculum and can be seen as the college's take on the Great Books Program. It also requires students to connect their classroom experience to the real world through an internship, research, and/or study abroad opportunities. More than 400 different courses are offered to fulfill the Foundations course requirements.
Terry oversees the largest academic unit at Carolina, with over 17,000 undergraduate students and 2,000 graduate students, and more than 70 academic departments, curricula, programs, centers and institutes. Under her leadership, the College is preparing to launch a new general education curriculum, IDEAs in Action, in fall 2022. This new curriculum represents the core requirements that every Carolina student will take regardless of major. The Institute of International Education's Open Doors Report, listed Rhodes as one of Top 35 Colleges in the United States for Students Who Study Abroad. Rhodes offers a number of its own study abroad programs, including European Studies, a fall semester program in which students travel to various locations in Europe while studying at the University of Oxford. Additionally, students can explore a variety of summer programs in locations such as Belgium, London, and Ecuador. Rhodes also helps students obtain internships across the country and overseas. In addition to the work experience, Buckman interns are provided with a stipend to use for cultural enrichment while abroad.
Department of Commerce in France and Croatia, the German Marshall Fund in Belgium and Poland, taught English through nonprofit organizations in Cambodia, and helped a U.S. firm set up operations in China. Additionally, the Political Science Department offers semester programs in Washington, D.C. Young adults appear to be at lower risk for developing severe symptoms, but as potential carriers of the virus, student behavior will very much affect the risks taken on by our faculty and staff.
Student Life staff will work with student leaders to develop protocols for social and club activities that are consistent with health guidelines but do not drain the vitality and enjoyment out of campus life. I have met with the new RSG leadership, and students are serving on each of our key planning committees. Faculty are preparing for flexible class-delivery methods so that students who need to be isolated or quarantined during the semester or who cannot travel to campus can continue their education. Faculty committees are also developing attendance policies and other academic policies that will facilitate health and safety and in support of students. A university wholly specialising in medicine, health sciences and complementary medicine, IMU provides a dynamic and interactive environment for our students that fosters educational and research opportunities.

In order to lower the financial obstacles to studying abroad, Rhodes allows students to use their federal and institutional aid on any one of more than 300 Rhodes-affiliated semester-long study abroad programs. The college's Buckman Center for International Education maintains a list of affiliated programs that Rhodes students can attend for one semester with no additional tuition or fees. Students pay tuition, room, and board as normal to Rhodes, including any federal and institutional aid they normally receive, which covers their tuition, room, and board while on the program.
Additionally, the college maintains a list of exceptional programs that are available via a petition process. About one-third of Rhodes students go on to graduate or professional school. Rhodes is in the top 10% of all U.S. colleges for the percentage of students who earn Ph.D.s in the sciences and among the top five in the Southeast. The acceptance rates of Rhodes alumni to law and business schools are around 95%, and the acceptance rate to medical schools is nearly twice the national average. Additionally, Rhodes' partnership with the George Washington University School of Medicine allows Rhodes students that meet certain criteria after their sophomore year to receive a guarantee of later acceptance to the George Washington University School of Medicine. Through 18 academic departments and 13 interdisciplinary programs, Rhodes offers more than 50 majors, interdisciplinary majors, minors, and academic programs.
If students are unable to find a major that meets their specific interests, the college may allow them to design their own major that is better tailored to their goals. Although the college is primarily focused on undergraduate education, Rhodes also offers graduate degrees in Accounting and Urban Education. When you graduate, you automatically become a member of the IMU Alumni Association, which has over 13,000 alumni members around the world. This would provide you access to a dynamic alumni network for career and lifelong learning support, enable alumni to engage with one another and contribute to their alma mater and community. Central to the life of the college is its Honor Code, administered by students through the Honor Council. In addition to taking specially offered courses, students have the opportunity to work with the Curb Institute through its fellowships program. As Mike Curb Fellows, students can gain experience in public relations, marketing, video production, audio production, community engagement, and extensive research/writing projects. However, President Diehl's most significant change to the college came in 1925, when he orchestrated the movement of the campus from Clarksville to its present location in Memphis, Tennessee .
The move provided an increase in financial contributions and student enrollment, and, despite the Great Depression and World War II, the college began to grow. In 1945, the college adopted its penultimate name Southwestern at Memphis in order to distinguish itself from other colleges and universities containing the name "Southwestern." On the 14th of each month, September through December, we will come together to offer "15 Minutes of Tips" for the college application process followed by an hour-long virtual college fair. Each institution will have its own Zoom room for students to meet with an admission officer and when available a current student or alum. The format is the same every month with different opening topics and tips.

On Saturday, November 21, 2020, the American Rhodes Scholar Class of 2020 was elected. These 32 outstanding students will commence their studies at Oxford in October 2021. They were selected from a pool of 953 applicants who had been nominated by their colleges and universities. They will now complete their applications to begin courses at Oxford next year, widely across the University's academic disciplines. My name is Rick Flores and it is my honor and privilege to lead our Jeremiah Rhodes Middle School as principal this school year.
I am a product of San Antonio ISD and look forward to serving the learning community with the highest level of excellence. As a former student, I attended Storm Elementary, Lowell Middle School and Burbank High School. As a first-generation university graduate I earned concurrent BA degrees in Sociology and Music Education from Texas Lutheran University.
In 2001, I earned my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Schreiner University. In 2018, Mr. Flores earned his superintendent certification from Texas A&M-San Antonio and this past January he began his doctoral journey at Texas Tech University. We have set aside quarantine space for students who develop Covid-19 during the semester and who are unable to return home.
Our health care system partner will provide medical support for students, faculty, and staff in on-campus isolation or quarantine. The college has to create a health and safety protocol plan that appropriately reduces risk for students, faculty, and staff. The academic year consists of two semesters, each containing fourteen weeks of instruction and a fifteenth week devoted to examinations.
The first semester begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the second semester begins in January and ends in early May. Summer course offerings consist of two 5 week sessions as well as various academic study programs offered across the curriculum. A detailed calendar including dates of recesses and special academic days is included in the catalogue, and may be found elsewhere on the website. Our approach to learning combines the best aspects of a great research university and an outstanding liberal arts college.
